John Dye, founder of DyeStat, passed away this weekend

The High School running community lost a very important figure over the weekend.  John Dye was the founder of Dyestat.com.  In 1995, he began coverage of high school track and field on the Internet.  The site started with local coverage of athletes in Western Maryland.  Eventually the site grew to include coverage of the entire country throughout a statistical database.
Many people credit DyeStat with the resurgence of track and field in the U.S.  Running Maryland was fortunate enough to interview him.  Though the following interview is 10 years, the interview remains pertinent for today.
