Both the Towson High boys and girls cross country teams enter this season with high expectations. Last year, the girls team finished third at the 3A state championship meet; the boys finished eighth. Both sides have their core of runners returning from last year, and with their experience and focus, the Generals look to make a strong push for championships once the post-season begins.
On the boy’s side, Ryan Wahler and Kiernan Mishcke lead the way for the Generals. They finished 19th and 25th at the state meet last year. Behind them is a very deep, experienced team including Jack Grandsire, Max Abubucker, Dylan Dunn, and Jack Blanchfield, who was the 2021 Baltimore County JV XC Champion. 3A was very competitive last year, but the Generals are ready to make some noise this season.
On the girls’ side, the Generals are led by Isabel Aldana, Cecilia van Lierop, and Yael Nahum. They were third at the 3A meet, but they were only three points from second. Their entire top seven from last season was underclassmen, and their experience will bode well in a wide open field.
Below, several members of the team talk about their goals for this season.
